"Exploring Acrylics--The Other Watercolor"

A Two Day Workshop with Jane Todd Butcher

at Blue Ridge Arts Council

111 East South Second St., Seneca SC

Wednesday Nov. 7 & Thursday Nov. 8, 2018

10 am to 4 pm

This workshop explores many ways that acrylic paints can be used in a fluid manner.

Acrylics are actually "water colors," since they are water soluble,

but they can be easier to use than traditional watercolors, may be painted on paper or canvas, and may be more vibrant and more durable.

Artists will explore the versatility of fluid acrylics in transparent and opaque techniques, glazing, layering, and more. We will experiment with painting on different surfaces and combining with other mediums.

Watercolorists may find that combining acrylics with their transparent

watercolors adds richness, helps fix problem areas, and creates new effects.

Member fee $100 plus materials fee.* Non-member $105 plus materials*

*$15 materials fee, or participants may bring their own acrylics

March 1 & 2, 2019:

"Build A Better Painting"

A two day workshop with Jane Todd Butcher

at Greenville Center for Creative Arts, Greenville SC.

Learn to plan your painting for success, whether you paint realistic subjects,

or you create abstract paintings. Artists will bring their ideas or photos for a new

painting. First we will analyze your concept to plan your composition.

Then you'll put your photos away for a more spontaneous look. We will plan a color

scheme, and use value to give your painting impact. Once your painting has

good "bones," Jane will demonstrate techniques for painting various subjects,

creating texture, and to further develop your painting. Demonstrations will

be in acrylic, but watercolors and oils are also welcome.

Details available soon.
